ABOUT ME

My name is Svetlana, BA (Candidate) in Photography & Moving Image in Limerick School of Art and Design in TUS, I am Limerick based Portrait and Wildlife photographer. I came from a small town called Valka, Latvia which is located on the border with Valga, Estonia. My interest in photography started at a very young age, I had what we call "Mylnitsa"(soapdish) disposable film camera, and I would photograph my grandmother's beautiful garden. I photographed everything from flowers, trees, animals and tiny insects to portraits of my family. I always been fascinated with small details either in nature or in humans face.

And many years later I have the same passion for Nature. Nature that is around us and Nature that we are, Human Nature (Character). When I take a photograph of someone, I look past those tiny lines that most people hate, I look deeper, at the facial expression, the eyes. To me it's not just a portrait, it's a story. A story of courage, resilience, sadness and happiness. The same applies to nature around us, just like that massive three in the middle of nowhere, we all have a story.
